Every time I put new strings on my guitar I would remove all the old strings at once and put on all the new strings. Before tuning the new strings I would leave them loose and make noise with them. There are three guitar tracks in this song, and anywhere it sounds like a really long slide of notes, it's actually a really deep bend of the string. Super loose.
I have since redone this song in a similar random, sloppy way, paying homage to the original, but playing the parts on three basses and an electric, as opposed to three de-tuned acoustics and a piano.
Garrett has a really great sense of melody; I very often find myself thinking I would have chosen the exact same chords for his songs, or am jealous I didn't think of them first. Pete Davis
Nick Steinborn, guitarist of the Wonder Years, has lots of recording experience. He also has lots of great ideas and a loop pedal. He's also a friend of mine. He'd be my first pick for dream band. Pete Davis
